Two issues[edit]

Over time, I'd suggest moving the page away from list format, into paragraphs (per WP:EMBED). Also, I want to ask, just in a preliminary way and not as a formal move proposal, what the rationale is for making this page a standalone page, rather than a section of Ventral tegmental area. --Tryptofish (talk) 19:35, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Tryptofish:
  • Main reasons I decided on a distinct article are:
  1. it's a GABAergic nucleus vs a DAergic nucleus for the VTA
  2. it's spatially disjoint from the DA nucleus, though with no clear boundary (the induction of FosB/ΔFosB exclusively by psychostimulants in the tVTA, and not the remaining VTA, is a very clear functional boundary though)
  3. it contains a projection to the VTA.
I imagine this article will grow to the size of the VTA at some point for those reasons. It's worth noting that I didn't bother adding a large amount of relevant material from the review when I made the page; e.g., peptide/neurotransmitter interactions and mediated cognitive effects.
  • Fair enough on the list. I merely wrote the projections so I could easily insert it into the table of neurotransmitter systems at Neurotransmitter#Actions.
I figured I'd work on the neurotransmitter article while I wait several weeks for my 4th round of FAC... I merely happened across the reviews on this structure when I was looking for more references on the function of ΔFosB outside the NAcc. Good, all of that makes sense to me. Thanks. --Tryptofish (talk) 20:04, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Tryptofish: does WP:NEURO have a MOS page, or do brain structures just follow MOS:MED#Anatomy? I can't seem to find one for the project. Trying to determine all the project-specific sections to add. Seppi333 (Insert  | Maintained) 18:24, 9 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, no project MOS page that I know of. I'd suggest following the MOS:MED guideline. --Tryptofish (talk) 22:43, 9 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
